MY PERSONAL TOUR GUIDE28/04/2007

Dixon is a kind and lovely guy and he's not a real tour guide...

I met him in the train station where I was asking him where I could find a records store in HK. As he didn't have anything to do at this time, he took me to these stores. Not only he brought me to my destination, but he became very quickly my friend. During my stay, he showed me the most mythical places of the city, made me taste the Chinese food, visit markets, etc.

A great merci to the best guide I never had !

Surely the best view of Hong Kong from the Peak, the highest point on the island. The city by night is just superb !

TIAN TAN BUDDHA27/04/2007

The Big Buddha is the world's largest bronze statue. He measures 26 metres in height and weights 220 tones.

This escapade in the Lantau Island must be seen, despite of the touristic mass.

KONICHIWA MANABU-SAN !23/04/2007

I introduce you my very good friend, Manabu from Japan. We know each other since 2002 when I was in NYC. He was my classmate, my confident and also a great producer. Indeed we have a point in common : music.

Without knowing that I was in Saigon, he sent me an e-mail by coincidence to tell me that he would be in business trip over here. In addition, he announces me that he will be in Hong Kong the same day as me !

The destiny made that we had the chance to see each other. It's fantastic what life reserves to us !

ELEMENT OF JAZZ18/04/2007

I miss my turntables, I miss my records, I miss music...

Indeed, I'm not really spoiled with the Vietnamese pop music... sounds noisy and very "dance" like the 90's... remember the Backstreet Boys... you see it now ? In one word, it's horrible...

Fortunately, I found a nice place to listen to JAZZ !!! The Sax N' Art Jazz Club. Thanks God, it made me feel good !

The owner of the club is called Tran Manh Tuan. He's not only the owner but a great and famous saxman. He's one of the leaders of the Vietnamese jazz movement (see picture with him).

PHNOM PENH15/04/2007

Phnom Penh is a city full of life and smiling despite the genocide.

It was a short stay but we become quickly attached to the population. A country that I'll revisit.

ANGKOR - CAMBODIA14/04/2007

Angkor is one of the principal archeological sites of the South East of Asia extending 400 km2 covered partly by the forest.

You can notice that the stairs of the temples are relatively stiff and that it's difficult to go down again... Highly disadvised to those which have the giddiness !

ESCAPADE IN CAMBODIA13/04/2007

Route : Saigon - Phnom Penh - Siem Reap

I made 14 hours by bus (about 630 km). It was a long long trip, but it was exceptional to travel with Cambodian people, especially to follow some lyrics of Cambodian karaoke and listen to national radio.

Be reassured, I didn't travel on the roof of the bus !

The basement contains impressive machines of telecommunications.

PAGODA THIEN HAU IN CHOLON (CHINATOWN OF SAIGON) 5/04/2007

You can feel the incense, you can feel the purity through the smoke, you can feel your prayer fly away towards the Goddess of the Sea...

The belief wants that the Goddess of the Sea can cross the oceans on a carpet and overlap the clouds to save the boats in difficulty...
